Trainee Application

A trainee member is a candidate enrolled on the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in order to become a Chartered Surveyor.

The Society provides you with the following documents in order to enrol as a Trainee Member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors:

You are required to be familiar with these guides before you enrol in order that you understand fully the requirements of the APC.

Once you have read the guides, complete the application form with your Employer, Supervisor and Counsellor and return it to:

together with the following items:

  1. Proof of Qualification - a copy of your Degree or Final Year Results or a Letter from the College to state you are a graduate of an accredited course will suffice.
    Placement Students must submit a letter from the college to state you are a placement student enrolled on an accredited course.

  2. Relevant Fee –Trainee Application fee total is €305 (this includes €75 subscription fee, €30 enrolment fee & €200 APC fee).

    Placement students or students enrolled on a postgraduate accredited course fee total is €230 (this includes €30 enrolment fee & €200 APC fee)

  3. Competency Achievement Planner - Before you enrol on to the APC you and your counsellor must agree which divisional route you are going to undertake. You are required to give careful thought to your choice and combination of competencies.

    The Competency Planner is a framework designed to plan your attainment of all of your competencies to the required levels. It indicates what competencies you are going to achieve, the levels of those competencies and the time frame in which you intend to achieve them. You are provided with a template of the Competency Achievement Planner in the Candidate’s Guide (Template 18).

  4. Experience Route Applicants – If you have at least 10 years’ relevant surveying experience, you may be eligible to undertake the Experience route through the APC. The Experience route has a reduced time requirement of 12 months.

    When applying to enrol on to the APC, submit a detailed CV outlining your work experience over the past 10 years. You should keep in mind the requirements of your chosen APC route when drafting the CV and ensure that you demonstrate experience of the relevant competencies. The experience route APC is detailed on page 19 of the Requirements & Competencies Guide.

 

Once your application is received and approved, the Education Office will notify you of your enrolment as a trainee member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.
You will be provided with your registration number, a start date for recording your experience and details required to access the members section of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland website.
