100% CPD Monitoring

Our members commit to an ongoing process of learning and 100% of their records are checked for compliance.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a commitment by members to continually update their skills and knowledge in order to remain professionally competent and achieve their true potential.

All members must undertake a minimum of 60 hours of CPD in every consecutive period of three years.

Monitoring CPD is essential to maintaining the reputation of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and its members, and to upholding professional standards.

Our rule of conduct regarding CPD states:

“Members shall plan, undertake, record and evaluate appropriate continuing professional development of at least the minimum number of hours as the Society may decide from time to time and as set out in the Society’s guidance documentation relating to CPD and, on request, provide the Society with evidence that they have done so in accordance with the Society’s requirements in respect of CPD.”

100% of the members CPD Records are checked for compliance and the current monitoring programme is in six phases over a three-year cycle.

If you have difficulties undertaking CPD, please inform the SCSI Director of Regulation at the earliest opportunity at regulation@scsi.ie and in the first instance we will provide guidance on how to overcome any issues such as downloading:

The Society reserves the right to monitor compliance by members in accordance with the Members Professional Conduct Rules, Monitoring and Investigation Procedures, Disciplinary Rules and Procedures and it is theSanctions Policy of the Society that Fixed Penalty fines will be imposed for breaches of rule of conduct 2.5 Continuing Professional Development and rule of conduct 2.8 Information to be provided to the Society.  The fines which may be imposed are as follows:

*Delay in Time in complying with Rule

Level of fine or penalty which may be imposed on Members

1 – 28 days late

€150

29 – 56 days late

€250

57 – 84 days late

Refer to Professional Conduct Committee

Professional Conduct Committee and Appeal Board

Maximum fine €50,000 per breach

subject to periodical review

 

*The fines specified above are cumulative

Also, having regard to public interest, the relevant information can be referred to the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) for a disciplinary hearing.
