I have paid a deposit but my mortgage has been withdrawn

I planned to buy an apartment. I noticed the apartment was withdrawn from an agency and subsequently appeared advertised on a property website as being part of an auction. I successfully bid for the apartment & paid 10 per cent deposit and signed a contract to complete the sale there and then. I appear to have paid a deposit on a property for which no mortgage is available and therefore I cannot complete the purchase. My solicitor has suggested Distressed Title Insurance Bond but I don’t know if it will be accepted by my bank?

faulty apartment windows

I live on the fourth floor of an apartment block. Recently one of the windows fell out on to my daughter who was standing in the kitchen. About three years ago I raised concerns with the builder that this window was rattling. They said they didn’t think it was cause for any serious concern.

Can our daughter claim capital allowances?

Our daughter bought a second-hand apartment in Dublin in 2006. Myself and my husband paid for the refurbishment and fitting out of the apartment in 2007. Our daughter lived there until January 2010 when she emigrated and rented out the apartment. Given that we paid for the refurbishments as a gift to our daughter, can she claim this tax relief?
