    Delivered by Matheson Partners, April McClements and Christine Woods, this lecture will examine the use and misuse of drones with discussions on: 

    • Existing regulation in Ireland and proposed reform on the horizon
    • Commercial drone use
    • Limitations of drone operation and potential risks
    • Data privacy issues and the impact of GDPR
    • What you need to know about insurance

     The lecture will conclude with a Q&A session.

    Speaker Profiles

    April McClements is a Partner in the Insurance and Dispute Resolution team at Matheson.  April is a commercial litigator and specialises in insurance disputes.

    April supports clients across a range of industries in relation to the entire spectrum of insurance related issues.  April advises insurance companies and corporate policyholders on policy wording interpretation and drafting, complex coverage disputes, D&O claims, cyber, emerging risks, and subrogation claims.  She also provides “gap analysis” advice for policyholders and underwriters where there are multiple policies covering similar risks.

    April manages professional indemnity claims for a variety of professionals, including surveyors, architects, engineers, and their insurers.

    April also works in the area of general commercial litigation with a particular focus on contractual disputes, most of which are litigated in the Commercial Court.  She is also a strong advocate of ADR and has acted for clients in mediations and arbitration.

    April is recognised by Intelligent Insurer as one of the "Influential Women in Re/Insurance" of 2017 and by the Euromoney Women in Business Law Expert Guide.

    Christine Woods

    Christine Woods is a senior associate in the Technology and Innovation Group at Matheson.

    Christine advises clients from a diverse spread of industry sectors on a range of data protection, e-commerce, intellectual property and information technology issues.  Christine has particular experience in advising local and international companies on their data processing and cyber-security requirements, including on processing arrangements and data transfers, data breaches, data subject access requests and the implementation of the GDPR. 

    Christine also has extensive experience in drafting, structuring and negotiating a wide variety of commercial and contractual arrangements for companies in the financial services, technology and life sciences areas including commercial contracts for the supply of goods and services, outsourcing arrangements, privacy policies, website terms of use, manufacturing and supply agreements, distribution agreements, franchise agreements, outsourcing agreements, software licences and IP assignments. 

    Christine regularly presents on topics within her areas of expertise, in particular on the key components and principles under the GDPR.
