This 1 hour CPD will focus on how to encourage developers and planners to scale up from individual green building certifications to broader sustainability frameworks, including LEED for Neighbourhood Developments, LEED for Cities, WELL for Communities, LEED & WELL for Portfolios. We will also identify how these programmes align with sustainable development goals of the UN, EU and Ireland.
Speaker Bio - Nellie Reid
Nellie Reid is the Managing Director of Meehan Green, a sustainability consulting practice based in Dublin and Galway, launched in 2016. She became one of the world’s first LEED Accredited Professional in 2001, the first year the credential was available. In 2011, she was honored in the inaugural class of LEED Fellows and moved from California to Ireland. Nellie served on the board of the Living Building Institute – Ireland and the Tipperary Green Business Network. While operating as a Sole Trader, she was recognized as the “Best Emerging Green Business” by the North Tipperary County Enterprise Board.
Prior to her move to Ireland, Nellie was the Director of Sustainable Design at Gensler, an international architecture, design and planning firm with over 35 offices worldwide. She served as a sustainable design consultant on over 100 LEED projects around the world and developed a sustainable design curriculum during her tenure at the firm.
In addition to her role as the LEED consultant on over 50 commercial buildings in Ireland (including 1 Windmill Lane), she is also a WELL Accredited Professional, a guest lecturer at UCD and TUD and a mother of three.
