Your Curriculum Vitae is a particularly important stage of the job application process. After your cover letter this will be the first introduction your prospective employer will have of you.
When looking for a job, most graduates will put the majority of their effort into perfecting their Curriculum Vitae while often treating their cover letter as a mere afterthought. Unfortunately, this is a mistake that could derail your application before it has been fully considered.
It is estimated that only 7% of an interviewers opinion of you is formed by what you say – the rest is judged on how you look, how you act and how you sound. As a result of this it is extremely important that you dress smartly, look bright and attentive, and most importantly speak clearly and confidently.
We take you through some of the most common questions asked during interviews. We recommend that you run through each question and the proposed responses in order to help you identify the perfect opportunity during the interview to display your key skills, experience and transferable skills.
Prior to any interview it is important that you look at the skills you have learned from your previous work experience and whether you can relate them to the position you are applying for. We provide examples of both ‘Core’ and ‘Transferable’ skills which you should familiarise yourself with prior to an interview.
