What is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the means by which professionals – including Chartered Surveyors – maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for their work and the services they provide.
CPD is important:
To improve your professional competence for your own benefit and that of your clients, employers and the general public
To enable you to demonstrate how you have sought to maintain your competence in the event of a claim or allegation
To comply with SCSI regulations
To gain knowledge needed to move into a new area of business
To gain a skill needed for promotion, such as management expertise
To keep abreast of new developments in your area of expertise and of new advances technology
The attainment of CPD should involve a structured approach to learning, encompassing knowledge, skills and practical experience.
CPD can involve any relevant learning activity, whether formal and structured or informal and self-directed. Download CPD and Training – Your Commitment to Maintaining the Highest Professional Standards to see the Society’s guidance documentation relating to CPD.
