The Housing Advisers and Building Standards Section of the Housing Programme Delivery Division is a multi-disciplinary section which provides professional and technical advice on a wide range of building and construction related issues. These include building standards and building control policy and legislation, social housing quality, urban design, value for money, procurement and delivery.
The Department has a vacancy for a Senior Adviser (Building Standards). Reporting to the Principal Adviser (Housing Advisers and Building Standards Section), the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the professional team of advisors in providing advice to the Department in relation to a range of housing/construction issues and the implementation of Government building initiatives.
The successful candidate will hold a Professional Qualification in Architecture, Engineering, or Quantity/Building Surveying and be eligible for entry on the relevant statutory register for the profession concerned. S/he will also have at least five years’ professional experience in a responsible position and the capacity to lead a multi-disciplinary team as well as an ability to analyse complex issues, to report accurately, to formulate coherent proposals for action and to communicate
clearly and to take a strategic approach in the delivery of key policy objectives.
