The primary function of the OPW is to support the implementation of Government policy and advise the Minister and the Minister of State, principally in the areas of flood risk management and estate portfolio management, which includes the presentation and conservation of heritage properties.
Reporting to the Chairman, the Head of Planning and Estate Management will be a key member of the OPW Management Board with responsibility for overall estate planning and the development of a prioritised and affordable portfolio plan and vision for the future which will meet the needs of clients and deliver value for money in property asset management.
The successful candidate will have:
• the ability to set the strategic vision for Estate Portfolio Management, having regard to the external environment and broader business, economic, policy and political contexts;
• a proven track record in the areas of dynamic planning, budgeting and prioritisation at a senior management level in a complex, multidimensional organisation;
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build effective relationships with relevant stakeholders in the public and private sectors;
• familiarity or the capacity to quickly acquire a good working knowledge of relevant EU and national legislation in the areas of property, planning, environment, procurement and construction.
