CLGE (Comité de Liaison des Géometrès Européens - Council of European Geodetic Surveyors)
FIG CLGE is the primary association representing geodetic surveyors in Europe. 38 Council of Europe states are members and this figure includes all 28 of the EU member states. It provides a platform for liaison and cooperation between the member states and also provides a conduit for contact and influence with the European Commission on all matters relevant to geodetic surveying in the member states. Though all forms of geomatics and geodetic surveying are represented there is a particular focus on surveying for cadastre and land registration. The head office of the Council is in Brussels. SCSI’s primary link is through the Geomatics Professional Group. Currently both SCSI and RICS are represented on the executive board of CLGE.
FIG is the premier international organisation representing the interests of surveyors worldwide. It provides an international forum for discussion and development aiming to promote professional practice and standards and strives to enhance the global standing of the surveying profession through both education and practice, increase political relations both at national and international level, help eradicating poverty, promote democratisation, and facilitate economic, social and environmental sustainability. FIG’s activities are governed by a work plan, which is regularly reviewed against a longer-term strategic plan.
